Inspire.  Sodexo is seeking a talented and innovative Catering/Conference Center Manager for The Villa Graziadio, a Premier Executive Conference Center located on the graduate campus of beautiful Pepperdine University in Malibu, California and has thirty two overnight/lodging rooms, six meeting rooms from 1,000 sq. ft. to 1,500 sq. ft.  


The Catering Manager is responsible for the organization and execution of all catering events management (beginning to end - selling conference, room and food set up, client/customer services, menu development, pricing; from buffets to VIP events), mentoring and training of hourly employees and have demonstrated knowledge in casual and fine dining, and banquet management as well as strong writing, costing, menu development and pricing skills.


The best qualified candidate will have:

  • the ability to communicate well with clients, guests, and staff on all details associated with catering, including;  event planning with a forward thinking presentation/set up skills, strong sales and menu development skills keeping abreast of industry trend.
  • Proper costing of events, invoicing and resolving guest service issues also part of the expectations. 
  • Previous experience in Hotel or Banquet environment and in high profile events delivering a high quality and excellent guest experience.
  • A passion for food, food presentation, catering and a laser focus on attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Catertrax or Visual One software or comparable hospitality software desired but not necessary, strong MS Office suite skills required.
  • Additional skills include experience in high volume activity,  labor management and control systems. 
  • May support/assist w/guest rooms and guest accomodations - having hotel management experience a plus.
  • This twelve month position entails some weekends, late nights and holidays, based on account needs. 

























Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED


Basic Management Experience - 1 year

Basic Functional Experience - 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Sodexo will require a background check and may require a drug screen for this position.
