Sodexo is seeking an experienced Executive Chef 1 for Lipscomb University located in scenic Nashville, Tennessee. Lipscomb University is a private Christian liberal arts university in Nashville, affiliated with the Churches of Christ. The campus is in the Green Hills neighborhood of Nashville between Belmont Boulevard to the west and Granny White Pike on the east. Lipscomb University was founded in 1891 by David Lipscomb and James A. Harding.

This position's in-house title is Catering Chef.  The position has the responsibility for all levels of catering service from simple continental breakfast to the finest in upscale meals both plated and buffet. The position will have direct client contact and direct contact with the Lipscomb University Leadership including the University President and First Lady. The the successful candidate will be expected to be able to create menus and perform catering duties and food preparation at locations other than the university proper ... which may consist of offsite locations such as the Presidents and Board Members residence as well as Corporate locations in and around the Nashville area. The Catering Chef will work in tandem with the Executive Chef 2 when required in the Student dining room and main kitchen.  The Catering Chef will be supported by a culinary worker specifically assigned to assist the Catering Chef and the position will also be supported by the culinary staff that provide daily food service to the Student Dining Room.  The candidate will be required to interview on site and take part in a mystery box competition. The candidate will interview with the Executive Chef, Operations Manager, General Manager. The successful candidate will be required to take part in final interviews with the Client and the First Lady of the campus

  • ensure Sodexo Culinary Standards including recipe compliance and food quality;
  • manage food costing, controls and compliance;
  • develop menus and manage inventory;
  • have high expectations for customer service and quality of food;
  • have the ability and willingness to develop and train frontline employees;
  • have a passion for food and innovation;
  • have knowledge of special diets and allergens; and
  • knowledge of Sodexo Food Management System (FMS) is preferred.

a strong culinary background, with the demonstrated ability to stay current with new culinary trends;

excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to maintain the highest of standards and implements company policies;

previous experience working in a high-volume facility; and

strong management skills.

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
