Sodexo’s university segment is seeking an Operations Manager 2 for Residential Dining at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) located in the hub of Chicago, Illinois.

IIT has an overall population of 8,000 on campus with 3,000 undergrad. As our Operations manager, you will handle $4MIL AMV to include our high volume Residential Dining business and a campus Restaurant offering lunch daily for 50-60 daily covers.  You will be overseeing one salaried chef, several Front-line supervisors, and up to 35 hourly union associates.  Our business is a 7 day a week operations serving 10,000 meals weekly for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Are you the experienced food service manager we’re seeking?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining day-to-day food and nutrition services
  • Full integration with our client's organization becoming a trusted adviser and member of the accounts leadership team
  • Achieving company and client financial targets and goals
  • Work to achieve continuous improvement
  • Ensuring Sodexo standards of operations
  • Position develops positive relationships with key representatives at the University and delivers guest services that exceed customer expectations

You will be measured by outcomes in financial management, employee satisfaction, client and customer surveys

Do you have?

  • Food Management experience in a High Volume environment
  • Solid Food Retail, Resident Dining, and Catering experience are critical
  • Extensive interaction with the campus clients and with external clients. Strong client relations is the key to success at this account
  • Work history demonstrating effective leadership skills, as well as previous supervisory experience and the ability to work in teams
  • Experience managing in a union environment (preferred)

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 4 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
