Sodexo, world leader in quality of life service solutions, has a new opening for a Senior Analyst, Tax Research in our Sales Tax department. This position may be located either at our office in Simsbury, CT or our office in Buffalo, NY and qualified candidates in both of these locations are encouraged to apply.



  • Ensure that Sodexo is in compliance with state and local Sales/Use Tax regulations
  • Serve as primary contact for divisional inquiries, tax research and projects
  • Work closely with the field and other departments to increase their understanding of the sales and use tax process and assist them as needed with sales and use tax issues
  • Review contracts and proposals to ensure that all sales and use tax issues have been considered
  • Train team members and provide guidance on tax issues, laws, procedures, and research
  • Maintain and update Vertex, SAP, and Taxware as necessary
  • Participate and lead various projects within the Department and cross divisional
  • Identify and implement tax savings and planning initiatives      
  • Provide assistance in the development and motivation of staff
  • Involvement in entire sales/use tax compliance function including preparing and reviewing various states’ return filings, account reconciliations, and tax analyses
  • Assist with property tax compliance functions
  • Assist in tax assessment analysis and correspondence
  • Responsible for initiation and completion of various states’ refund claims

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years sales tax experience - knowledge of multi-state sales/use tax laws preferred
  • CPA Preferred
  • Vertex/Taxware/SAP experience preferred

Minimum Training/Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Strong technical and analytical skills            
  • Must be well organized
  • Must be able to meet strict deadlines                                          
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all levels of management
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and customer service orientation      
  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to lead a team environment                        
  • High degree of initiative
  • Travel as necessary

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's in Accounting
Basic Functional Experience - 4 years
